Introduction

The Commodore is situated in the Devon town of Paignton and offers Eight En-suite guest rooms – Four rooms on the first floor and Four rooms on the second floor. Six of the en-suites have showers and two have baths with shower over.

 

The property was originally a Victorian gentleman’s residence and has recently been refurbished. We aim to meet the needs of all guests but due to some of the period features, it could make access for people with limited mobility difficult.

 

Pre-Arrival

We are situated on Paignton sea front just a two-minute level walk away from the town centre. Both the coach station and train station are less than a ten-minute level walk from our guest house. There is a taxi rank situated just outside the train station and opposite the bus station.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

We appreciate you advising us of your estimated time of arrival. On arrival there is a private car park for the sole use of our guests which can accommodate 8 cars. The car park has a tarmac surface and a slight incline approaching the hotel.

 

There are 7 steps up to the front door with a hand rail on each side. There is a doorbell situated to the right of the main front door which you will need to ring on arrival to gain access. There is a step into the entrance porch.

 

Main Entrance, Hallway & Reception Area

There is an inner front door (no step) which leads into the hallway of the guest house. This is always kept locked with guests having their own ‘toggle’ to gain access.

 

Guests will be requested to complete a registration form in the reception area (which doubles up as the bar) which is situated just off the hallway (again no steps involved).

 

PUBLIC AREAS – HALLWAY, STAIRS, LANDINGS, CORRIDORS, TOILETS ETC.

 

The floor covering to the hallways, stairs and landings are all short-pile carpet. The Public toilet is situated on the ground floor with flat access and has a laminate floor.

 

There are 19 steps up to the first floor, with a turn half way up. There is a hand rail on the right-hand side. Four of our eight rooms are found on this floor.

 

There are a further 17 steps narrowing and turning to the second floor. There is a hand rail on the right-hand side although at the midpoint the rail is quite low due to the design of the staircase.

 

On each floor there is a fire alarm and fire extinguishers and smoke alarms are fitted in every room. There is also emergency lighting in the hallway and on the stairs.

 

Sea View Dining Room, Bar & Bar Seating Area

Breakfast is served between 8.30am and 9am in the sea view Dining Room which is situated on the Ground floor (flat access) and has a luxury vinyl wood effect flooring.

 

There are normally six round tables seating 1-4 people (although extra tables may be added at busy times for breakfast hours only). The Dining Room doubles up as the bar seating area, to make the most of the spectacular sea views. This room is open all day for guests to use.

 

The Bar is situated opposite the lounge (flat access). This has varnished wood flooring.

 

BEDROOMS

There is central heating throughout the house. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. Extra portable heaters can be supplied if required. Beds have white sheets, blankets and bedspreads on. Extra blankets and pillows are provided in the room. Each room has a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and biscuits. Hairdryers are provided in each room. There are lcd freeview television in each room.

 

First Floor

  • Inland Family Room (double bed and bunk beds) en-suite (bath/shower over)

  • Inland King Size en-suite (bath/shower over)

 

Please note that all of our showers have a slight step to enter them.

 

Ironing facilities are available on request.

 

We do allow guests to purchase takeaways and have them delivered to the Guest House. In the interests of hygiene and cleanliness however we do not allow them to be eaten in the guest rooms. They must be eaten in the Dining room where plates, cutlery, condiments and sauces will be provided free of charge.

 

Additional Information

We have a non-smoking policy anywhere on the premises of the Guest House.

 

Should the fire alarm ring, evacuation is through the front door and the waiting area is in the car park at the front of the building. Evacuation procedures are in the folder in each guest room. Should you require assistance in the event of an evacuation please advise us on arrival.
